My father was a retired Oregon State Police officer so law enforcement and first responders in my small, rural community growing up (near central Oregon), were my “family”. I am aware of the challenges first responders face and I prioritize helping them maintain the ability to continue to serve our community.

I have worked in a hospital on a Palliative Care Team with patient’s who were diagnosed with an end stage illness and some of whom were out of medical treatment options. I supported my patients and their families in talking with medical professionals to better understand their situation and supporting patient’s in expressing their values and hopes moving forward. I also provided support to family members who were caregivers or those who were experiencing grief/loss.

I also frequently support and serve those in the medical profession with a culturally competent & trauma informed lens after working in a hospital atmosphere for 8 years and recognizing the difficulties we face as we serve our communities. I also prioritize serving them so that they can continue to do their work.
